ROSS: A Revolutionary Solution for Prosthetic Cleaning

In the past, cleaning prosthetic liners and sleeves has been complicated, time-consuming and unfortunately, somewhat ineffective. Disinfecting these essential supplies isn’t possible with soap and water alone. But ROSS is highly effective at eliminating germs and odor causing bacteria. The ozone generated by the ROSS system eliminates 99.9% of aureus bacteria, the leading cause of soft tissue and skin infections such as cellulitis, abscesses and furuncles (boils).

No More Unpleasant Odors

The system doesn’t need any added harsh chemicals during the short sanitizing process. So what is that fresh scent? That is the smell of a thoroughly clean and fresh liner sleeve, free of odor-causing bacteria and pathogens. This environmentally friendly system is safe to use and employs the biocidal efficacy of ozone to eliminate odor-causing bacteria on prosthetic liner materials in as little as 10 minutes. The device creates the short-lasting ozone in each cycle from an electrical component so no refills are needed!

ROSS Uses Unique Technology for Effective and Efficient Cleaning

Ozone technology is what allows the device to work so effectively, quietly and without harsh chemicals that can leave a tell-tale smell behind. After you wash your cleaner, it’s ready to use in minutes and will have liners sanitized in minutes. When you first receive your prosthesis, your supplier or physical therapist will explain more details about liner cleaning and might recommend ROSS as an all-in-one affordable solution. Compatible will all sizes, brands and types of liners, cleaning them daily as recommended is simple!

ROSS Is Convenient & Eco-Friendly

Signs Your Current Amputee Hygiene Routine Is Ineffective

If you’re currently using just soap and water, or a complicated and expensive unit, and still aren’t satisfied with the results, you (and others around you) could be noticing a number of problems that ROSS can resolve. Some common issues experienced include:

  • Bacterial buildup in prosthetic attachment
  • Stump funk
  • Residual limb skin smells bad and is itchy or red
  • Infections on or around the limb contact point
  • Itchy or dry, flaky skin
  • Boils, cysts or rashes under the liner

Skin health for amputees involves using clean and sanitized components to prevent prosthetic infections and to safely enjoy the benefits their prosthetics provide.

The Benefits of Properly Cleaning Prosthetic Liners and Sleeves

Thoroughly and properly cleaning sleeves and liners helps eliminate germs and bacteria, which reduces incidents of infection and skin irritation. This leads to improved health and overall comfort, and can increase your confidence in smelling fresh for yourself and others around you. Routine daily cleaning can also extend the lifespan of your prosthetic components.

Cleaning and Maintenance Tips for Your Prosthetic Liner Cleaner

Because you need to clean your liners daily, to get started, wipe down your liner with a moist, lint-free cloth to remove any debris (you get one free with every ROSS unit). Put the liner into the ROSS and twist the lid to seal it. Choose your cleaning cycle: Normal or Super, and hit the start button. When the cycle is finished, you’ll see a green light and hear a tone to alert you that your clean liner is ready. While many prefer to start their cleaning at bedtime, cleaning and drying takes as little as 10 minutes from start to finish.

You can clean the inside of Ross as often as you want by removing the “Interior Steeple.” We recommend using window cleaning spray.

I usually use my ROSS at night when I go to sleep. I simply place my liner in my ROSS unit, push a button and fall asleep. ROSS automatically shuts off 5 minutes after the cycle completes, so I don’t even have to worry about turning it off. I wake up in the morning to a liner that smells fresh and is truly clean. It’s a great way to start the day.— Deborah S.
